Starting at around 15, I went to work as a Pacific Telephone Long distance operator. Lying my age to get that job. We moved around a lot so there were many schools. None were for art. All my jobs were public contact or face to face .
That was a good start. So schools were not an option for me. I read many books and was around creative people.I loved the operator job.It was fun. We moved again. Being creative was my daily routine. I like working with people. This was useful because as chance would have it, I ended up renting
my own art studio / gallery in downtown VENTURA, CALIFORNIA. Good location on Main Street and the rent was good, plus doing some duties/chores for owner, it lasted 17 years. I could work there and enjoy the public coming at the same time. Children with parents came. I would let them paint on my current HUGE canvas.Big brushes, big canvas. They loved that. Not crayons.
As I have no children, I loved it.
That was from 1980 to 1997 , when I moved here to Perris, CA.
While in Ventura, Ca. I was hired to paint a variety of commissions. (See sigridtune.com ) I loved having a little public working/studio gallery.
People are interesting. Art is good for everyone. It's problem solving .
